PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY: Kunio Doi received his Ph.D. degree from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan in 1969. He then joined the Department of Radiology at The University of Chicago where he is Professor and Director of the Kurt Rossmann Laboratories for Radiologic Image Research, and the Ralph W. Gerard Professor in the Division of Biological Sciences. Dr. Doi has served as a Commission Member of the International Commission of Radiation Units and Measurements (ICRU), an Integration Panel member of the Department of Defense's Breast Cancer Research Program, Associate Chair for Research in Radiology, Director of the Graduate Programs in Medical Physics. He has received numerous honors including the Memorial Lecture Award from the Upstate New York Chapter of the AAPM, the Landauer Memorial Award from the San Francisco Chapter of AAPM, the Eugene P. Pendergrass Lecture at the University of Pennsylvania, and the Umetani Award of the Japanese Society of Radiological Technology. Dr. Doi has published over 550 papers in Journals and Proceedings.
