Abdominal Imaging
Dr. Abraham Dachman
Fellowship Program Director

The Abdominal Imaging Fellowship is a one-year comprehensive fellowship comprising clinical, teaching, and research activity in all aspects of abdominal imaging using all available modalities. The patient population and clinical experience represents both a comprehensive outpatient setting and inpatient tertiary referral center with a high volume of oncology, surgery, gastroenterology, transplantation and emergency referrals. Fellows will learn to perform and interpret 3D CT angiography, CT endoscopy and other cutting-edge diagnostic studies. In addition, ultrasound offers all routine abdominal studies, plus small parts ultrasound, gynecologic ultrasound including endovaginal ultrasound, percutaneous biopsies, prostate biopsies, color and spectral Doppler vascular and transparent studies. Fellows participate in gastrointestinal and genitourinary examinations including video fluoroscopy, dynamic protocography, oropharyngeal motility studies, etc.

The MRI experience includes liver, pancreas, adrenal, renal and pelvic imaging plus MR angiography, cholangiography and endorectal imaging, and offers the opportunity to participate in non-abdominal application.

State of the art CT, MRI, ultrasound and fluoroscopic equipment (both analog and digital) is used. MRI scanners include three 1.5T and one 3T magnet with software and hardware for fast imaging sequences, endoluminal imaging, MRA and MRCP. In addition there is a small bore high field strength MR for experimental use.

Fellows participate in resident teaching and are encouraged to participate in research. We are in the process of applying for ACGME accreditation of this program.

Neuroradiology
Dr. Dianna Bardo
Fellowship Program Director

The Neuroradiology section offers both one and two-year fellowships which include the full range of imaging procedures of the central nervous system. Neuroradiology works very closely with other departments in the hospital including Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neuropathology, Pediatric Neuro-oncology and Radiation Therapy.
Fellows can gain experience in basic neurointerventional techniques including embolization and angioplasty. They are also exposed to endovascular therapy for intracranial aneurysms and vascular malformations. Staff, fellows, and residents in training all work closely together for the diagnosis and treatment of adult and pediatric neuroloic diseases.
Experience in all aspects of neuroimaging is offered including CT angiography, magnetic resonance angiography, spectroscopy and functional imaging using a 3.0 T magnet. There is a dedicated Siemans Neurostar biplane digital angiographic unit for neuroangiography and interventional procedures. Neuroradiology ahs full access to three 1.5 T GE MR units as well as four GE spiral CT scanners.
The first year is ACGME accredited and was surveyed by the ACGME in December 1997 and received continued accreditation for five years in November of 1998.

Vascular/Interventional Radiology
Dr. Jonathan Lorenz
Fellowship Program Director

The Vascular and Interventional fellowship is a one-year program providing experience in all aspects of both adult and pediatric angiography and interventional procedures. Teaching is a combination of clinical experience in the angiography lab and didactic teaching during film interpretation.

The Section of Vascular and Interventional provides a complete range of both vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures. The section has four modern digital angiographic suites. Helical CT and ultrasound-assisted and –directed procedures are also provided through this section.

In addition to routine diagnostic angiography and venography, a large number of therapeutic interventions are performed in adult and pediatric patients including endovascular, biliary, gastrointestinal and renal procedures. These procedures include angioplasty, stenting, drainage, embolization, thrombolysis and biopsy. Venous access (temporary and chronic catheters and ports) is also performed by interventional radiology.

The Vascular and Interventional fellowship program was surveyed by the ACGME in December 1997 and received continued accreditation for five years in November of 1998.
