As part of the Imaging Research Institute at The University of Chicago, the Human Imaging Research Office (HIRO) is expected to have a positive impact on the Department of Radiology by fostering research collaboration with our colleagues in other departments, providing customized imaging services for clinical trials and other research protocols, establishing consistent standards for research image interpretation, and distributing HIPAA-compliant research images to study personnel in a timely and user-friendly manner.

The HIRO was formed to act as the facilitator for investigators and research projects that require imaging-related services, data, and expertise.
