Recent grants awarded to the Department of Radiology

Congratulations to our faculty members who have recently been awarded grants:

Michael W. Vannier, MD, Aytekin Oto, MD, Patrick La Riviere, PhD, and Heber MacMahon, MB, BCh. These grants have totaled $2,587,995.

Mike Vannier’s [PI] DoD project entitled “Traumatic Brain Injury Diffusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging Research Roadmap” was awarded for $2,122,000.

Aytekin Oto [PI] on the following awards:
MR microscopy of prostatectomy specimens for automated whole organ histopathology. Admetech Foundation ($100,000)

A feasibility study to evaluate MR thermal image guided laser induced interstitial thermal therapy for focal ablation of prostate cancer. Partnership for Cures and Visualase Company ($80,000)

Eovist Enhanced Hepatobiliary MRI for Acute Cholecystitis Diagnosis. Bayer Healthcare ($50,000)

A Post-Marketing Safety Study in Patients with Moderate Renal Insufficiency who receive Omniscan (Gadodiamide Injection) for Contrast-Enhanced MRI ($68,228)

Patrick La Riviere - Argonne/U of C seed grant competition has been funded. $75,000 in direct costs for one year entitled “Development of Fast Direct-Imaging X-Ray Fluorescence Computed Tomography”

Heber MacMahon - Title: A Prospective, Randomized-Controlled, Multicenter Study Evaluating Primary Plating in High-Risk Median Sternotomy Patients for Osteosynthesis and Pain Agency: Biomet Microfixation, Inc. Project Period: 10/09/09-10/08/11 Award Project Total: $92,767
