Section of MRI

The department is currently equipped with 3 1.5T GE MR units including one utilizing the Excite platform. A 1.5T Philips Achieva is installed in the Comer Children’s hospital and there is a 3.0T GE MR in the Goldblatt research pavilion which is dedicated to radiology research. Installation of a new 1.5T Philips Achieva in the outpatient facility should be complete in August of 2005 and a 3.0T Philips MR for clinical use is scheduled for the second quarter of 2006. A complete range of examinations are performed including examinations of the brain, spine, abdomen, pelvis heart and musculo-skeletal system as well as vascular examinations including MR angiography of the aorta, renal arteries, carotid arteries and peripheral vessels. Specialized examinations are performed including spectroscopy, MR perfusion, MRCP and cardiac function. Functional MR examinations are performed on the 3.0T MR.
